After the international tour that took him to Colombia, the United States and several countries in Europe, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó announced this Saturday that he will reinforce the pressure against the regime of Nicolás Maduro and said that Argentina, among other nations, will be key to Help solve the crisis that bleeds Venezuela.

The head of Parliament, recognized as interim president of Venezuela by more than 50 countries, gave a press conference in which he took stock of his trip and announced marches for the coming weeks. And he alluded to the statements of Maduro, on Friday, when he said he called some "friendly governments", such as those in Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Russia to mediate the dialogue in Venezuela.

Before a question of Clarín , Guaidó responded that Argentina will be "key" in the recovery of Venezuela.

“I understand the position of President Alberto Fernández and I respect him. We are not going to get into the internal politics of either Argentina, or Spain or any other country that is supporting the process of recovering democracy in Venezuela. It is clear that the Argentine Vice President had a direct relationship with Madurismo and Chavismo, and I understand the complex situation there. But they have also been very clear that there is an emergency in Venezuela, that a solution to the crisis must be sought and they also rejected what happened on January 5 in the National Assembly, "Guaidó said, in relation to the Chavismo maneuver to recover Parliament, which was in opposition hands.

"I am sure that Argentina can help the dictatorship understand that the only alternative it has is to generate guarantees for a really free presidential election . I think that Argentina's work can be key to, at some point, unlock ... or that receive Maduro as they received Evo Morales, ”said the deputy, in front of the press in Caracas.

Guaido also spoke of Spain, and said that this country is "an ally of the democratic cause" in Venezuela and recalled that the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, was the first European president to recognize him as interim president.

"Pedro Sánchez was the first who recognized me in Europe more than a year ago. His Foreign Minister (Arancha González Laya) has ratified it a few hours ago," Guaidó said in a press conference in which he recalled that he had "a friendly meeting "with the minister during her recent visit to Madrid.

Guaidó's passage through Spain generated controversy, since Pedro Sánchez did not receive him personally, as did other presidents, such as Frenchman Emmanuel Macron or American Donald Trump. The Venezuelan opponent was received by Foreign Minister González Laya, who conveyed the interest of the Spanish Executive to contribute "with all means at his disposal to generate the conditions for holding presidential elections with guarantees."

Guaidó also referred to the scale made at the Madrid airport on January 20 by the Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, who cannot step on European Union (EU) soil due to Brussels sanctions.

"What is clear is the consequence of a sanctioned stepping on European soil. What is clear today to the dictatorship (which Nicolás Maduro considers) is the treatment given to the Democrats (...) versus the treatment that is it gives sanctioned, human rights violators, is what I would like to highlight from that visit, "he explained.

The parliamentarian of the Popular Will party also promised the next start of new calls for protest against Maduro.

"I will summon you to the streets in the coming days, stay tuned; I ask for unity, the pressure now more than ever to generate the transition will take place," he said.

"Our side is towards justice, on Thursday we will see new information, our agenda is specific and actions, we will reveal it day by day," added Guaidó.

At the same time, Guaidó also rejected the "arbitrary detention" of his uncle, Juan José Márquez, this week, upon his return from his tour. Marquez was arrested on arrival at the Maiquetía International Airport, Caracas, on a flight by the Portuguese airline TAP from Lisbon accompanying his nephew on his return to Venezuela.

"Entering through Maiquetía, being able to tell me something, or take me, they know where I live, where I am, and the dictatorship is so cowardly that they decided to take a dear relative, my uncle Juan José Márquez," he lamented.
