The Administration of Excellence and Creativity Authority discussed during its annual meeting today with trainers and heads of robot clubs in Syria the preparations for the national championship for the World Robot Olympiad WRO for the year 2020.

Participants at the meeting held at the authority’s headquarters in Damascus reviewed the conditions for progress in the tournament and the mechanism for supporting the admitted people within the framework of the authority’s initiative to support and rehabilitate robotic projects participating in the open category competition financially and scientifically that was launched this year in order to support scientific innovation and creativity and encourage the teams wishing to participate in the competition.

And Dr. Muheeb Al-Naqri, Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Robotic in the Excellence and Creativity Authority, stated that the championship is witnessing a strong and great competition due to the increase in the number of teams participating in it year after year.

Dr. Ibrahim Shuaib, head of the championship arbitration committees, pointed out that robotic competitions help to learn the skills of the twenty-first century as robotics is based on the intersection of several sciences, and participants in its competitions should learn and apply their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and programming. For example this year, the participants will develop Robots that help solve climate problems and mitigate the impact of climate change.

In statements to the media, Nabog Yassin, director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the Excellence and Creativity Commission, pointed out that the valuable project ideas that deserve to be worked on will be supported in terms of providing the required equipment and tools.

Dr. Shadi Bitar, member of the Scientific Committee for the Robotic in the Excellence and Creativity Authority, said that among the difficulties that were facing those wishing to participate in the championship are the large costs that projects require because they need special equipment and places, pointing out that the body will be a partner to the bodies represented by the teams that win, which will ensure that a part is provided From support to winning projects.

The Excellence and Creativity Authority called on the teams wishing to participate in the open category competition within the National Tournament of the World Robot Olympiad for 2020 to submit their project ideas and register through the authority's page on the social networking site Facebook until the twenty-sixth of this month.

In order to expand, develop and organize the base of qualified trainers for robotic competitions, the authority indicated that it will establish a credit course for trainers for robotic tournaments - an advanced level during the period between 3-26 and 2-4-2020 at Al-Baath University in Homs.

The national championship for the World Robot Olympiad, to be organized in Damascus next August, under the title Climate includes three competitions: The first is the regular competition, and it includes the primary category below 12 years, the middle class for ages 13 to 15 years, the upper category for ages 16 to 19 years, and the second is the university competition challenge The robot is for young people from 17 to 25 years, while the third open competition includes projects for participants from 11 to 25 years.
