State radio in the Republic reported the death of a member of the Khamenei Advisory Council • This is the second senior in the country who died from the disease

Iran's state radio announced Monday the death of Mir Muhammad Mahmadi, a member of the country's top leader's advisory committee, Ali Khamenei, as a result of the covid19 disease.

Mahmadi, 71, is the most senior Iranian who died as a result of the outbreak of the Corona virus in the Islamic Republic and his death was determined at a hospital in the capital of Tehran.

The council of which Mahmadi is the mediating body and coordinator between the Iranian legislature, the Majles, and the office of Supreme Leader Khamenei, includes a clergy of clerics, jurists and academics.

Last week, the death of a member of parliament, who was elected just days earlier, was presumed to be after the deadly virus contracted during the election campaign. Another senior government official in the country infected with the virus is Iran's vice president of women and family affairs, Masuma Abtakar.

The Deputy Minister of Health, Iraj Harirchi, is still in serious condition after suffering from the disease. Harirchi was outraged when he went on air to deny his illness while showing the symptoms of the disease.

The state authorities have so far reported 978 cases of the Corona virus infection and 54 deaths from the virus, but various state officials have already acknowledged in the past that the official data provided by the regime is much lower than the reality.
