In this respect, it was by no means an easy decision to cancel the festival, as Sven Langer, THW club board member and main responsible for the festival, announced. After much deliberation, sleepless nights and numerous discussions, the decision was made to do so. "Due to the current pandemic situation, we unfortunately see no other option for us," said Langer. Because in the event of an infection, the THW as a rescue organization would be paralyzed for days in the worst case.
The Starkbierfest has been organized by the THW volunteers at the accommodation in Günding since 1983, around 500 to 600 visitors come every year, the Blechblosn occurs. Langer sees himself as a volunteer board member, especially with regard to the guests and of course also for the volunteer forces - and then it is important to weigh them up. "I want to clearly and clearly distance myself from an excessive scaremongering!", Said Langer.
Should there be an infection of a guest who was at the festival, THW Dachau would be paralyzed as a volunteer emergency and rescue organization. "In the worst case, we would have to report useless for ten to 14 days and could no longer provide help in the district, or could only do so to a limited extent," added local representative Christian Weber. "There is no question that this is not an option in the current situation and development of the corona pandemic for a task force with over 110 missions last year." Therefore, said Sven Langer, the cancellation was decided - as a responsible task force and rescue organization , which has a commitment to its forces, their families, guests and residents of the Dachau district.
The THW Association has informed the Dachau district office and district administrator Stefan Löwl in advance. He respects the decision: “I can fully understand the decision. This shows a high degree of responsibility for your task as an operational organization in and for the district. "
Reinhard Unsin from Blechblosn also thinks it's a shame, but understands the decision. And Sven Langer can already confirm one thing today: There will be no substitute - “but we will definitely see you next year at the THW during the strong beer season.
The Mexican Night in Pfaffenhofen an der Glonn was also canceled due to the risk of infection. The festival, which is attended by between 800 and 900 guests, should take place tomorrow in the community's building yard. "We decided on Wednesday evening to cancel the event," explains Martin Schneider from the organizer. In fact, there is no increased risk, since you can become infected with all other activities, such as driving a bus, at the airport, in the S-Bahn, but there may be a moral problem if you “in the general discussion heated by the media is holding a fun event ”. Schneider emphasizes that the organizers did not want to create panic with the rejection, on the contrary: the decision was made out of responsibility for visitors and helpers.
