OB election in Munich: LIVE summit meeting in video stream - top candidates compete against each other

Munich - On March 15, 2020 , Munich will re- elect its Mayor * and City Council. The vote is as exciting as it is rare: Can the OB challenges Kristina Frank (CSU) or Katrin Habenschaden (Greens) pose a threat to the current City Hall boss Dieter Reiter (SPD) ? Will the Munich CSU and SPD get a government majority again - and would they form a GroKo again?

And: Can the Greens continue their course, which was already evident in the 2018 district election and the 2019 European election, also in the Bavaria 2020 * municipal election? But not only the three-way fight of the "big three" should interest Munich. This time there is a record participation in the local elections: 17 lists are in the city council election - and 14 OB candidates *.

Munich OB candidates live in video duel here: Does Reiter (SDP) have to vote in the runoff?

Münchner Merkur , tz and 95.5 Charivari therefore invite the three OB favorites to the “Die Münchner Wahl-Arena”. OB Dieter Reiter (SPD) , Kristina Frank (CSU) and Katrin Habenschaden (Greens) answer your questions in the press house on Bayerstraße and here live in the stream.

Among other things, it is about traffic, rents and climate protection - and the question: What will become of our city? You can follow the event on Thursday, March 5, from 7 p.m. in the live stream here.

“Wahl-Arena” live stream with Reiter, Frank and Habenschaden - are you afraid of Volt, ZuBa & Co.?

The race for the chair of the town hall chief should be about whether either Frank or Habenschaden can force riders into a runoff *. In 2014 Josef Schmid (CSU) Reiter came very close. He got 36.7 percent, the S PD politician 40.4 percent. Reiter won the runoff with 56.7 percent .

In the city council election, the question arises as to how many percent and seats the numerous small parties and lists can squeeze out of the "big three". This is also crucial for possible coalitions. Because it could well be that two parties alone are no longer sufficient for a majority. These new electoral groups will take part in the Munich 2020 local elections:

  • volt
  • ZuBa
  • FAIR
  • Party courage
  • Munich list
