The publication of the lists of candidates for municipal elections allows us to see more clearly the strategy of The Republic on the move for this first local test. In January 2020, the boss of the presidential party, Stanislas Guerini, had set the objective of "multiplying the number of local elected representatives En Marche!" and to have 10,000 municipal councilors elected ” . As a reminder, today, fewer than 5,000 municipal councilors have joined En Marche !. To achieve this objective, the large cities that greatly contributed to the success of LREM in the presidential and European elections are at the heart of its municipal strategy.
In the context of a municipal campaign where the references to a political party had never disappeared from posters, leaflets, professions of faith and speeches by candidates to such an extent, the specter of the “shameful label” now seems to touch LREM.
