The Spanish Anti-Corruption Prosecutor sent a rogatory commission to Switzerland to collect data on an alleged donation of 65 million euros from King Emeritus Juan Carlos I to his friend Corinna Larsen, as confirmed by legal sources to the EFE news agency. The order was placed about a month ago.

The request came as part of the investigation of the anti - corruption prosecutor on payment of any charges in the award to a consortium of Spanish companies a line of high - speed rail Medina-Mecca (Saudi Arabia) for more than 6,700 million of euros.

Last Tuesday, the Swiss newspaper Tribune de Geneve , published that the special prosecutor of Geneva, Yves Bertossa , found evidence of the movement of 100 million dollars by two account managers in Switzerland, Dante Canon and Arturo Fasana.

Prosecutor Bertossa already took a statement last December 19 to Fasana, Canonical and Corinna Larsen. The Geneva Prosecutor's Office declined to confirm the reception of the Spanish rogatory commission or the steps that this institution will take after receiving it, EFE said.

According to the aforementioned newspaper, the Swiss Prosecutor's Office considers that the 100 million dollars that came to an account in Panama of the Lucum Foundation came from Saudi King Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and that the sole beneficiary of that foundation would be Juan Carlos I.

In 2012, a portion of this sum, 65 million euros, was transferred by the king to his former lover Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, always according to the newspaper.

For all this, the left-wing party Unidos Podemos, part of the Spanish government coalition, demanded a parliamentary investigation into the suspicions of money laundering against the king emeritus.

"We will work to create an investigative commission on the alleged corrupt activities of Juan Carlos de Borbón," tweeted Pablo Echenique, leader of the openly Republican formation, who since January has been part of the coalition government with the socialists of Pedro Sánchez.

Several small leftist parties or Catalan independence parties also demanded a parliamentary commission of inquiry. In the past, Podemos had asked to form a commission on the emeritus king but failed before the rejection of socialists and the right. Juan Carlos enjoys immunity during his years as head of state (November 1975-June 2014).

"We do not know for what reason" the king received this sum, but "a modern democracy cannot allow this type of doubt, suspicion, to fall on who was for so many decades the head of state of our country," said Echenique.
