The head of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, Major General Stefano Del Cole, confirmed that the flight of Israeli airspace in Lebanese airspace violated UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanese sovereignty.
"The Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace, waters and lands contradict UNIFIL's goals and efforts to ease tensions and create a stable security environment in southern Lebanon," Del Cole said in a statement quoted by the Lebanese National Information Agency today.
Del Cole called on the Israeli enemy to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and "immediately cease all flights over Lebanese territory."
