LE FIGARO. - A word from the hottest news. How do you see the way Western democracies are coping with the coronavirus crisis? Does it bring back archaic reflexes that we thought were swallowed up?
Peggy SASTRE. - Any existential crisis brings back archaic reflexes, because they literally allowed our ancestors to survive and transmit their genes to us. To put it another way, archaic reflexes have proven their usefulness and their effectiveness. Epidemics are perhaps the type of crisis - with wars - where such a reality is most salient. If I were a researcher, I would take this opportunity to conduct studies on the action of such an epidemic on our behavioral immune system,
