+++ Results of local council elections +++

Twenty executive chairs in the town hall of the Weilheim region are to be filled in the local elections on March 15, 2020. In a number of municipalities, the incumbents are standing for election again. This is the case in Weilheim, Peißenberg, Wessobrunn or Eberfing, among others. You can find the latest news about the election in the news ticker for the district of Weilheim-Schongau.

In the cities and municipalities where more than three candidates for mayor are running, runoff elections are likely. Because: If none of the mayor candidates receives more than 50 percent of the vote in the first ballot, then the right to vote stipulates a run-off election. Candidates who received the most votes in the first ballot move into these.

The run-off elections must take place exactly two weeks after the first ballot, ie on March 29, 2020. You will find the results for Weilheim together with those for Schongau in the result text for Weilheim-Schongau.

In municipalities such as Huglfing or Böbing, only one candidate for mayor is running. But what many voters do not know: If there are not enough candidates in a municipality for the number of posts to be filled, voters can also put candidates on the lists on election day that do not run themselves.

In the last local elections in 2014, for example, Martin Klein did not apply for the Wildsteiger top office - nevertheless he received almost 34 percent of the vote as a “phantom candidate” for the office of mayor. In the 2020 municipal election, he officially competes for Mayor Josef Taffertshofer.

In fact, in municipal elections, people who do not appear on the ballot can also become mayors. This happened about six years ago in the municipality of Schwaigen (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district): Hubert Mangold was so popular that 55 citizens spontaneously wrote him on their ballot papers and sent him to the runoff. The incumbent mayor Karl Schwarzberger had not even received half of the votes in the first ballot - even though he was the only candidate.

Weilheim

Eight candidates want to become mayor of Weilheim (there were six in 2014):

In addition to incumbent Markus Loth (BfW, in office since 2002) , these are Angelika Flock (CSU) , Manuel Neulinger (Greens) , Romana Asam (Free Voters) , Horst Martin (SPD) , Saika Gebauer-Merx (FDP) , Ullrich Klinkicht (Weilheim with each other) and Reno Schmidt (AfD) .

In a separate article, we will introduce you to the mayor candidates for Weilheim. You can also find all information about the mayoral election in Schongau from us.

Penzberg

Elke Zehetner (SPD) has been Mayor in Penzberg since 2014. She wants to defend the town hall and has to deal with five challengers. Six years ago she prevailed against Richard Kreuzer (CSU) and Wolfgang Sacher (BfP).

Markus Bocksberger (Penzberg together) came to the city council in 2014 on the SPD ticket. Out of dissatisfaction with the mayor, he left the SPD parliamentary group in 2018 and founded the new list in 2019, of which he is now the top candidate.

Stefan Korpan (CSU) is new on the political stage in Penzberg. The police officer has been a member of the CSU since 2018 and was selected as mayor of the Penzberg local association the following year.

Kerstin Engel (Greens) has been a member of the city council since 2008. Her candidacy for mayor was already expected in 2014. At that time, she did not run to avoid harming Zehetner's candidacy. Today they both have a mutual dislike.

Armin Jabs (citizen for Penzberg) has been a member of the city council since January 2019. Since then he has also been the group leader of the BfP founded in 2007. After Wolfgang Sacher (2014), Jabs is the second BfP candidate for mayor.

Michael Kühberger (Free Local Politics Penzberg) moved into the city council for the CSU in 2014. In 2017, however, there was a split, which gave rise to the new list "Free Local Politics Penzberg", which has since provided three city council members.

Peissenberg

Manuela Vanni is sent into the race from the Peißenberger list . If the current town hall boss prevails, it would be the third term - Vanni had come into office for the SPD in 2008.

Walter Wurzinger is the candidate for free voters . In 2014 he was inducted into the market council via the CSU / non-party list. At the end of 2018, he joined the citizens' association and is now among the free voters.

Robert Halbritter wants to conquer the Peißenberg town hall for the SPD . Halbritter had already decided in favor of the candidature at the end of 2018 and was chosen by the local association in March 2019.

Frank Zellner competes for CSU / non-partisans . Zellner also tops the list for the local market council. The CSU had lost the mayor's office in 2008 - to Manuela Vanni.

We present the four mayor candidates for Peißenberg in more detail in a separate article.

Hohenpeissenberg

Thomas Dorsch competes for CSU / non-partisans . His candidacy is not a surprise. Dorsch has been in office since 2008 - Karl Graf, the long-term town hall chief, had then refrained from applying again.

Wessobrunn

Helmut Dinter is “still in the mood” for the town hall, as he announced at the assembly meeting of his “ List for All ”. Dinter, known as an argumentative politician, has been sitting in the executive chair since 2008.

Georg Guggemos challenges Helmut Dinter. Guggemos was drawn up from the new list " Shaping Together ", he also tops the list of local councils. The candidate is the CSU chairman.

Eglfing

Martin Fortmaier would follow in great footsteps: The candidate of the electoral community was nominated as mayor's successor for Klemens Holzmann - and he had directed Eglfing's fortunes for at least 24 years.

Michaela Schönbach was inferior to Martin Fortmaier at the constellation assembly and created her own list "Together" from the baptism. Schönbach, who is currently on the municipal council, sends this candidate into the race.

Oberhausen

Wielienbach

Ignaz Jochner was sent in as a top candidate by the local CSU branch. Jochner, who runs his own mill as a master miller, also tops the municipal council list of the Wielenbacher CSU .

Frank Buchberger is running for the local association of free voters as a candidate for mayor. The Haunshofener was chosen unanimously at the assembly meeting. He is also number one on the municipal council list.

Harald Mansi was the first to throw his hat in the ring last October. The current municipal council created a new list "We for Wielenbach" - and was nominated with 100 percent of the votes.

Eberfing

Georg Leis is the incumbent and, as expected and unanimously, was created by the CSU / party-free for a new candidacy. Leis has been in office since 2008, when he followed the CSU veteran Eduard Ott.

Böbing

Peter Erhard was drawn up from a joint list of CSU / Young Union and party-free as a candidate for mayor. The choice would be nothing new for Erhard: the only applicant has been the head of the town hall in Böbing for 18 years.
