Since 8 a.m., polling stations are open in mainland France for the first round of the 2020 municipal elections.

Some 47.7 million voters, including 330,000 nationals of the European Union, are called to the polls, while France closed at midnight all "places receiving the public not essential to the life of the country".
Voting, the second round of which is to take place on March 22, will be closed at 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. depending on the municipality.
