Ebersberg - In the district town, the cards have been reshuffled. The balance of power in the political camps is not completely upside down after the local elections, but it has changed significantly.

"Pro Ebersberg" may send three councilors to the committee

The main reason for this is the new electoral group "Pro Ebersberg", which is allowed to send three city councilors to the committee straight away. The CSU suffered the most, losing two seats. It makes a noticeable difference whether five or six parties decide the fate of a city. The more political groups, the longer the discussion, but also the more different the impulses, the more unpredictable the outcome and the more relaxed the alliances.

So far, the CSU and its related free voters have put together 14 out of 24 city councilors. The factions of the Greens and the SPD regularly complain that if they disagree with this bulwark, they could weigh too little. It will be different in the future. The CSU and Freie now together represent eleven city councilors and therefore no majority. In order to get decisions through, the most powerful faction must do more to communicate with all other parties. There will probably be changing alliances. This is also due to the newly founded "Pro Ebersberg" electorate, whose declared aim was to bring a breath of fresh air to the town hall, to shake the shop a little.

Pro Ebersberg: Weak mayor election, strong municipal council election

The group did not succeed in providing the mayor. Her candidate Josef Peis was only able to collect 9.4 percent of the vote. But "Pro Ebersberg" won 12.4 percent in the city council elections. These are three seats that both the CSU (-2), but also the SPD and free voters (-1 each) have to give up. The influence of the Christian socialists at 34.3 percent and eight city councilors in Ebersberg is dwindling to a historical low. This hurts the conservatives all the more, as the mayor's chair seems almost lost to the CSU after the phenomenal result for SPD man Uli Proske (46.7 percent).

In line with the nationwide trend, it is not surprising that the Greens do well. They also made up ground in Ebersberg and, with 18.6 percent of the vote, ended up just ahead of the SPD (18.4 percent). The Greens are now gaining a seat and, with five city councils, will be the second strongest faction in the future.

There is no five percent hurdle in local elections. That is why the FDP can continue to help shape it, even if it convinced only 3.2 percent of the voters. The only city councilor of the Liberals is and remains Bernhard Spötzl.

Ebersberg: Disappointment from an equal point of view

The future composition of the city council is sobering from an equal point of view. In other places in the district, more women appear in local politics, three to six municipalities (depending on the runoff results) are now even headed by a mayor instead of just the city of Grafing. In the county town, on the other hand, the trend is even in the other direction. Soon, only every fourth city council member will be female. The six women (previously seven) come from the Greens (3), the SPD (2) and the CSU (1). The three other groups, FW, "Pro Ebersberg" and FDP, are all male.
