Klaus Kögel (CSU) and Thomas Zimmermann (Greens) are running for mayor candidates in Seefeld.
Seefeld - The only thing that seemed certain in advance was that there would be a runoff in Seefeld. The candidates have also been determined since yesterday evening at 7.44 p.m. Thomas Zimmermann, Mayor candidate for the Greens, was able to convince 31.2 percent (1202 votes) of the voters. Klaus Kögel (CSU) received 25.2 percent (970). Both will be shortlisted on Sunday, March 29th. 21.9 percent (842 votes) voted for Johanna Senft from the Bürgerverein (BVS), 21.7 percent (835 votes) for Petra Gum (FWG).
"I am delighted that I have won the trust of the citizens," said Zimmermann in a first reaction. He had followed the counting on the Internet with his family. The next two weeks are now about convincing voters of the concepts of the Greens. Zimmermann had been campaigning intensively for weeks, focusing primarily on home visits. "I also thank my campaign team for their efforts," he emphasized.
Klaus Kögel was surprised by the result. "I didn't expect the gap between the Greens and the CSU to be that big," he said. "But it is so and we will be able to cope with it." Until the end, he had a head-to-head race with Senft, in the end 28 votes made the difference.
Johanna Senft made no secret of her disappointment. But she was also positive about the whole. "We had a strong campaign, the team grew great together," she said. Many citizens have signaled their overwhelming approval. The result is very, very short, "other combinations would have been possible". But the voter had decided.
"Too bad that is of course not my dream result," Petra Gum commented on the election outcome. She wishes the winner of the runoff election a happy hand for the community of Seefeld, she said. "And I thank the free voters, my family and everyone who supported me." There was a very exciting time behind her. "We did a good election campaign." Why she couldn't have won more voters, she couldn't say. "I'm not an election analyst." Now she would be able to concentrate on her job again.
