(CNN Spanish) - The interim president of Bolivia, Jeanine Áñez, announced new measures to fight the coronavirus in the country.

Starting this Tuesday, the country's borders will be closed to foreigners for 48 hours. Only Bolivian citizens and residents may enter, who must submit to the health protocols implemented by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.

In addition, in 72 hours from Tuesday all international and national flights will be suspended, as well as interdepartmental and interprovincial passenger land transportation. Only the transport of goods will be allowed to ensure the supply of the population.

From March 18, the working day in the public and private sector will be reduced: it will start at 8:00 am and end at 1:00 pm local time. Markets, supermarkets and supply centers will remain open only until 3:00 pm. Vehicular circulation will be restricted from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am, except for people who, due to the characteristics of their jobs or due to health needs, require movement.

Áñez said that the measures will be in effect until March 31 initially and asked the police and the armed forces for maximum collaboration in their application.
