Michael Connelly does not know the writer's breakdown. Since The Black Echo in 1992, which became The Sewers of Los Angeles the following year thanks to Robert Pépin, who then launched his collection "Seuil / Policiers", he has published twenty novels in which we find his favorite character, Inspector Harry Bosch of the LAPD, (Los Angeles Police Department).
This series, which did not prevent him from publishing other crime novels without Bosch, like Le Poète , perhaps his masterpiece, belongs to the novel of police procedure. A former journalist specializing in criminal matters, Connelly knows all about the police profession. We hardly know any author more concerned with the accuracy and credibility of his investigations, down to the smallest detail. As James Ellroy works with documentalists who carry out his research, Connelly can count on the expertise of police officers who have become friends over time. It is thanks to them that his novels hold up so well and are a striking painting.
