Democratic candidate for presidential election, Bernie Sanders, called Wednesday to lift sanctions on Iran, due to the deadly corona epidemic in a country that has claimed the lives of more than a thousand people.

In a tweet on Twitter, Sanders wrote that "Iran suffers from a catastrophic epidemic of Koronhats must not allow its US sanctions to contribute to disaster.

Sanders joins a wave of protests on the left calling on the United States to remove sanctions on countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Iran and Russia to allow states to better cope with the outbreak of the Corona in their territory.

The head of the Russian Federation Council, Konstantin Koschov, also called today to abolish all sanctions in the world, except those of the UN, because of the Corona virus.

The Trump administration has imposed a long string of crippling economic sanctions on Iran, with the aim of exerting pressure on it to cease nuclear weapons development and re-negotiate a nuclear agreement that will ensure that it will not develop weapons of mass destruction in the future. The sanctions have caused a heavy economic downturn in the country and a steep decline in the value of local currency.

Iran's corona epidemic has killed 1,134 people after 17,530 people have contracted the virus, which has targeted it on a Shi'ite pilgrimage and has hit every strata of the country's population. Yesterday, World Health officials estimated that the number of casualties in the country may be five times higher than the official figures.
