Coronavirus: Parliament seized of emergency economic plan

The amending finance bill for 2020, drawn up to deal with the coronavirus crisis, will be examined in the Assembly this Thursday.

The government has seriously revised downwards its forecasts: the deficit should climb to 3.9% of GDP (against 2.2% before the crisis) and the debt will exceed 100% of GDP in 2020. As for consumption, it should dive 2%. But the situation could deteriorate further ... In its opinion on this bill, the High Council of Public Finance (HCFP) warns that " the deterioration of the macroeconomic framework could be more marked than expected " . For now, the executive bases its forecasts on the assumption of confinement limited to one month and a rapid return to normal
