Confidence: Macron's rating jumped (+13) in the middle of a health crisis

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, Emmanuel Macron's confidence rating jumped 13 points and crossed the 50% mark for the first time in almost two years, and that of Edouard Philippe gained 10 points, according to a Harris Interactive poll. -Epoka published Friday. The Head of State progresses in all age groups, from 10 points in the 65 and over age group to 17 points in the under 35 age group. He gains 17 points in the higher categories and 12 in the popular categories.

Driven by the management of the health crisis, Emmanuel Macron obtains for the first time the confidence of a majority of French people since the spring of 2018, in this monthly barometer for LCI produced in the context of television interventions strongly followed by the executive. Also very exposed since the start of the crisis, the Prime Minister obtained the confidence of 48% of French respondents, his best level since December 2017.

The renewed confidence in the executive also translates into a 6 point increase in the government's rating to 35%. The rating of Olivier Veran, little known last month, jumped 26 points to 48% and the Minister of Health comes close behind Jean-Yves Le Drian, his colleague in charge of Defense, leading at 49% (+3) . Bruno Le Maire (Economy) wins 10 points at 45%, Jean-Michel Blanquer (Education) 8 to 43%, Gérald Darmanin (Public accounts) 9 to 40% and Christophe Castaner (Interior) 7 to 32%.

If Nicolas Hulot (43%, -6) dives, several other personalities are clearly on the rise in this survey carried out after the first round of the municipal elections, including François Baroin (36%, +6), François Bayrou (29%, + 5) or Gérard Larcher (26%, +4).

Survey carried out online from March 17 to 19 among 917 people aged 18 and over, using the quota method. Margin of error from 1.4 to 3.1 points.
