Würzburg - Almost half of the coronavirus deaths in Bavaria concern residents of a Würzburg nursing home. Nine people died there after infections with the novel virus, as a spokesman for the State Office for Health (LGL) said on Friday on request.

Corona in nursing home: all deceased over 80 years old

The head of the Würzburg geriatric care facility told the German press agency that all deceased had previous illnesses and were over 80 years old.

Coronavirus in Würzburg: 166 people tested positive

According to the state office, an evacuation of the home is “currently not advisable for technical reasons”.

According to the Würzburg Health Office, a total of 166 people in the city and state of Würzburg had tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 by Friday. There are currently 716 people in domestic quarantine * .

The medical director of the University Hospital Würzburg, Georg Ertl, said additional capacities had been created for the testing and treatment of corona patients in the region. If necessary, 75 ventilation stations could be set up. All medically non-mandatory operations and interventions would be postponed indefinitely.

In total, there were 20 deaths from corona diseases in the Free State by Friday. As the LGL published on its website, at least 3,107 people in Bavaria had tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 by Friday.
