Cuba announced Friday the closure of its borders to non-residents due to the coronavirus pandemic, after trying in recent days to preserve as much of its tourist activity, the engine of the island.

"We are going to regulate the entry to the borders of the country, by authorizing only the entry of the residents in Cuba" , announced on television the president Miguel Diaz-Canel, after having reported a new assessment of the disease on the island, with 21 cases including one death, that of an Italian tourist.
