Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer assured Friday that he did not plan to cut back on the summer holidays despite the current closure of the schools, but that free "catch-up" school modules would be offered in July and in August. Since Monday, all schools have been closed due to the coronavirus epidemic. It is therefore up to families, thanks to the online educational resources and the documents sent to them by teachers, to teach at home. This situation "should not lead me to change the summer holidays , " assured the Minister of National Education, interviewed on BFMTV.

"On the other hand, we will certainly develop free tutoring modules, in particular for the most disadvantaged students, from disadvantaged backgrounds, so that in early July and late August we can offer remedial elements for those who have been disabled" , he clarified. "It will not cut off the summer holidays but it will allow us to have a free school offer for those who need it," he added. The Minister indeed recognized that the current situation would create "an accentuation of the differences according to the family environment" . "Some will have parents who can help them, others will be more disadvantaged, so we will try to compensate for this situation," he said.
He also reassured that the baccalaureate and the diploma should be held as planned at the end of June: "I will try to keep the deadlines" , he said, while conceding that the procedures for passing exams " could evolve . "
