Expatriates and tourists feel trapped far from home

Some 130,000 French people, who have gone on vacation to the four corners of the world, would like to join their country. But the borders are closed, and air links are interrupted.


The world has suddenly closed. Borders are difficult to cross, airports sometimes closed, trapping hundreds of thousands of tourists far from home and millions of expatriates in their adopted country. For the latter, the situation, admittedly unprecedented, often has nothing very frightening. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, has also asked the three million French " permanently settled abroad " to stay at home, as far as possible.
