Coronavirus, with faster AI diagnosis

(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 21 - Thanks also to a pulmonary CT it is possible to make a diagnosis of Covid-19. Now in Italy it can be done in 20 seconds, thanks to an artificial intelligence system that was purchased by the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital of Rome directly from China and that is made available to all Italian hospitals. It is the first hospital in Europe to acquire this system, used in Wuhan Hospitals. The artificial intelligence system can provide a response in 20 seconds starting from the analysis of the images of the lung CT. The reliability rate is 98.5% and has already been tested in Rome by radiological doctors of the same university hospital. In addition to providing the immediate response on the type of pneumonia (viral from Covid-19 or other pathologies), it is able to calculate the volume of lung compromise and to provide an evaluation of prognosis, improvement or worsening of the patient's situation. Italian hospitals will be able to digitally send images of patients' lung CTs and the CampusBio-Medico Imaging Center and Image Diagnostics will provide the structured feedback of the artificial intelligence system.
