A 15-year-old boy was killed after he was buried under the rubble of his home • Streets in the city of Zagreb were blocked to traffic after buildings collapsed

An earthquake of 6.0 hit the capital of Croatia Zagreb and caused severe damage and destruction in the center of the city and its northern suburbs. A 15-year-old boy was killed after the residential building he found collapsed completely.



Photos from the scene show streets were blocked with rubble and rubble from fallen buildings and homes that collapsed. Damage was also caused to light rail infrastructure and parked cars crushed under rubble.

"The Amblons team arrived at the scene of a building collapse and found under the rubble a 15-year-old boy with no signs of life. Several other injured were found at the scene," Reuters told Zagreb City Emergency Services Chief Rasic.







A number of fires have erupted in the city due to gas pipes exploding and fire and rescue teams have taken thousands of people to the streets in order to protect their lives.

Meanwhile, the Krasco nuclear power plant in Slovenia reported that no damage was done to the compound during the earthquake and that the station continues to generate electricity at a regular rate.
