(CNN) - Broadway artists in their efforts to help keep people's spirits high amid their coronavirus quarantines use their talents this time through lip syncing with a spectacular hymn.

Directed by Broadway artist Jordan Grubb, a handful of musical theater actors came together virtually to film themselves singing alongside the epic "One Day More" from "Les Misérables."

As expected, the artists stuck to their characters a lot as they synchronized the song, which in the musical helps show the human spirit of the characters struggling to survive in 19th century France. Some even wore their own DIY costumes.

The video features all the artists who spend their days in self-isolation. The activities they carry out may be familiar to those who practice quarantine: an artist synchronizes his lips while washing his hands; one grabs a handle of alcohol; another holds (and essentially serenades) his dog.

"Like the rest of the theater community, (I) have been trying to make social distancing to the best of my ability, while having a way of artistic expression," said Grubb, who is also a CNN cameraman.

Last week, Grubb made a social media invitation to his friends asking them to contact him if they were interested in participating. "From there, I sent them a timestamp of the song, asked them to get creative and film a sequence and send it to me from their phones," he said. It was a kind of community artistic work of love for what we do. "

Grubb collected clips throughout the week, and then spent two days editing the video before uploading it to Facebook on Sunday.

The video's release came nearly two weeks after the Broadway League announced that all Broadway shows would be suspended until April 12 due to the coronavirus. Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of Broadway theatergoers and the thousands of people who work in the theater industry every day, including actors, musicians, set designers and many other dedicated professionals. ” Charlotte San Martin, president of the Broadway League, said in a statement announcing the closing of theaters.

Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo officially ordered all nonessential business workers to remain in their homes to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Rachel Schleifstein and Paul Murphy of CNN contributed to this report.
