After the ban on going out in the fight against the corona virus, which had been in effect since March 10, the first hope of a trend reversal had arisen in Italy. The civil defense had recorded the record number of around 790 deaths for one day on Saturday. The worst affected by the Covid 19 pandemic is the north, especially Lombardy.
Italy's government is increasing fines for exit restrictions from the corona pandemic. In the future, violations of the strict rules will be punished with 400 to 3000 euros, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced in the evening in Rome. So far, a penalty of EUR 206 has been threatened for offenses, and detention of up to three months was also possible.
The decree presented by Conte provides that regional authorities in the fight against the virus may temporarily take their own measures, as the prime minister announced.
Italy's police have controlled more than two million people since the March 10 bans were imposed. There were more than 100,000 ads for violations, the Ansa news agency reported.
