(CNN) - Jackson Browne revealed to Rolling Stone that he recently tested positive for the coronavirus. The 71-year-old singer wants everyone to do what he did, whether they feel healthy or not.
He claimed that he was quarantined when he started feeling sick, and emphasized that, with so many people who are probably not being screened, being away from others is important, especially since people can be carriers and asymptomatic.
"They have no symptoms, but they could have it and they could transmit it," Browne told Rolling Stone in the report, also posted on his official site.
“This is what younger readers need to understand: They must participate in the global proposal to stop the spread. That means not going anywhere, not having contact with anyone, not seeing anyone, "said the singer.

Browne said the test was done after having a high temperature and a small cough, before several states issued mandatory orders to stay home.
Though not sure where he contracted the virus, Browne said he recently attended the Love Rocks NYC charity gala in New York City, which has the highest number of coronavirus infections in the United States. Even a White House public health expert has advised anyone who has recently left the city to quarantine for two weeks in an effort to curb the pandemic.
The singer said that he feels good, while recovering at home: "My symptoms are really mild, so I do not need any type of medication, and I certainly do not require hospitalization or anything like that," he said.

Browne also reiterated a warning to younger people: "They need to know everywhere that they may be less likely to get it, but they have to be treated."
"They can spread this disease by not taking it seriously," said the legendary singer. "They can pass it on to someone assuming they won't have any adverse effect on their own and therefore they can keep partying and go wherever they want. It just isn't true. They have to understand that everyone is part of the answer. ”
