The National Rugby League (LNR) should decide at the end of April what to do with the Top 14 and Pro D2, interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, after the postponement at the end of the month of its Steering Committee initially scheduled for Tuesday.

“For almost three weeks, the National Rugby League (LNR), the 30 professional clubs and all stakeholders in the rugby family have been meeting regularly to think about the post-Covid-19 era and respond to the challenges facing professional rugby have to face. Faced with a complex and changing health situation, the National Rugby League gives itself time to reflect before taking, in consultation with the FFR, the first decisions related to the situation. The steering committee initially scheduled for April 7 will meet by the end of April, "said the NRL in a press release.
White season or season to finish?
The Top 14 and the Pro D2 have been stopped since March 13. The presidents of the thirty professional clubs have declared themselves in favor of the continuation of the season. Since March 18, the NRL has created three working groups - sporting, economic and regulatory - to initiate a response to the consequences of the health crisis. For the time being, two scenarios seem to be holding the line: maintaining the Top 14 final on June 26, with a tight schedule, or moving it to July 18.
An email from La Rochelle, pleading for a white season, leaked in the media. Two opposing visions oppose, a fracture line has appeared between the clubs who hope to end the season and those who prefer to give up on it. The discussions to come will be tense between the supporters of the two options.
