History in China: After three months of closure, illness and death, Wuhan city wakes up this morning (Wednesday) for its first day in three months with no traffic closure on the city.

During the night, private vehicular traffic authorities opened the highways out of the city, several lanes at a time, and the city is now again connected to the state's national highway network.

Exciting sights were seen at the city's main train station as crowds crowded out on the first express train from the city, which became a symbol of the Chinese fight against the Corona virus. Since the train left, train traffic from the city has been renewed on a limited scale and several trains depart from the station hourly. Reuters reports that 55,000 people are expected to leave the city today by train.

"I'm very happy, I'm finally going home," Liu Xiaomin told Reuters as she boarded a train leaving the city. Shioomin, like thousands of workers outside the city, got stuck with it when the plague broke out and was cut off from her family for three months. Wuhan International Airport also resumed its day-to-day operations as a regular flight from China Eastern Airlines departed for Beijing. Before takeoff, the pilot waved to media outlets waiting on the runway to document the partial return to life in the city.

Wuhan, a city of 11 million, has been in full quarantine for almost three months since the Corona virus first appeared in December at the end of December. Wuhan and Hubei Province where it resides were the center of the outbreak in China and the sickness and mortality rate in the city and province were the most difficult in the country. More than 50,000 city residents have been sick and more than 2,500 have died from the disease, according to official figures from the Chinese government.

But in spite of the exciting sightings of a certain return to the city, new cases of contagion in Corona have been reported in China this past day, most along the country's northern border. Ironically, the new infection cases are likely traveling from illegal movement of people from Russia to China's territory.
