150 firefighters have now had their lives tested by the fire brigade so that they do not endanger the lives of an unnoticed infection.

Fürstenfeldbruck - Protected and not infected with corona is especially important for groups that have to deal directly with people in illness or emergency situations. The volunteer fire departments from Fürstenfeldbruck, Aich and Puch are also included. Around 150 members underwent a rapid test, which was organized and carried out by the "Medsyne" company under the direction of Karl-Heinz Jansen.

The result is also of interest to the weirs for tactical reasons, as fire department officer Andreas Lohde explains. "Anyone who is free of infection can approach a mission more carefree." The result also affects the composition of the team for a mission. Within his own group, the risk of infection must also be kept as low as possible, says Lohde.

The firefighters are calm about the tests

This is exactly where the members of the fire department are motivated to take the quick test. Commander Michael Ott is leading by example. "That's why I approached the test with a positive mood." And so the result didn't surprise him. "Everything's fine," says Ott.

Christian Block also approached the test with ease. "It doesn't harm anyone and it benefits everyone," emphasizes the 34-year-old. Especially since the test is hardly time-consuming for the individual. After a little pikser and some blood from the fingertip, the fire fighters sit opposite the doctor for a maximum of ten minutes. Then the result is certain.

The tests are funded by donations

Then you have to add a few details to an entry sheet, done. "The voluntary anonymous disclosure helps us to better assess the situation of a high-risk group such as the fire brigade," says a statement by "Medsyne".

However, the test series is not exactly cheap, like Dr. Thomas Quak emphasizes. He is responsible for medical advice and research management at “Medsyne” and produces disinfectants for the district. A test kit costs 20 euros, and the doctors sacrifice their free time. The campaign is financed by donations. So it depends on how extensive testing can be. Around 160,000 euros have been received so far.

Tests are also to be carried out in old people's homes

"We want to limit ourselves to the district," says Quak. The aim is to test all fire departments and other emergency services in the district. The old people's homes should also be included if possible.

The safety of the test is, according to Dr. Quack very high. Nevertheless, “Medsyne” emphasizes that a possibly positive test does not mean with absolute certainty that you are immune afterwards. And the experts from "Medsyne" point out one thing: "The usual protective measures are essential."
