When the "default" sounds like "the end of democracy"

It is almost impossible to consume media information that is not well-seasoned in the family of "default" concepts these days. But the data, dry and similar, spoils the atmosphere. Worldmeter data, which centers on daily statistics on the Corona epidemic, which many international bodies and governments rely on, reveals that Israel is dealing with the crisis, and in many cases even very good.

For starters, the State of Israel should be positioned in relation to the 36 OECD countries. After all, when you want to "bump" the health system in Israel, it is often compared to these countries, so why are suddenly Kuwait, Mali, Papua New Guinea, Chad, Laos and dozens of other countries relevant? The correct comparison, then, is "to the equator," that is, the OECD countries.

As of Sunday, 12.04.20, the corona virus mortality rate in Israel is 0.95%, and is ranked sixth among OECD countries. In front of her are the following countries: Slovakia (0.27%), New Zealand (0.3%), Iceland (0.47%), Latvia (0.48%), Australia (0.94%). That is the lowest mortality rate.

So if in this overall ranking Israel is in a good place, let's try the other failures: for example, the tests. Israel ranks 14th with a total number of tests, compared to a million people, of 13,557. In front of it are, for example, Germany 15,730, Switzerland 21,954, while behind it can be found New Zealand 12,684, Belgium 8,814 and even South Korea 10,038. It is also important to add to this information that, according to the Ministry of Health's explanation, the rate of testing has been declining in recent days in light of the introduction of new locally made reagents, so as not to rely on imports from abroad. This process requires adjustment of the laboratories and is then expected to return to full testing. Only this, but in addition to the existing tests, in accordance with the agreement signed with BGI - AID will add about 10,000 more tests per day.

So since the test mode didn't respond to the default thesis, let's see what the state of the ventilator is. Last weekend, it was announced that Elbit Systems will begin manufacturing respirators in Israel, so within a few weeks there will be another 3,000 additional machines on the 3,300 already in the system. This is when, in practice, there are now about 130 corona patients. And finally, it turned out that, recently, five tonnes of hydrochlorochloroquine drug came in to treat the virus. Although the government of India has banned the export of the drug, Israel has received special delivery thanks to the good relations between the countries.

Looking at all these unfulfilled "failures", the memory of over-expressing "the end of democracy" in relation to any right-wing political move emerges in memory. And although the end is a shame, no one admits wrongly. On the contrary, the perception only takes root, in a kind of hope that what the eyes do not see in reality - perhaps the cry, and the media, will reshape. In this case, too, our senses are wrong. The State of Israel is not perfect, it makes mistakes in dealing, but the flawed failures, it turns out, are shattered by the facts in exemplary silence.
