According to the New York Times , the city of New York decided to include in its official statistics the probable deaths of the coronavirus which could not be tested. This had the effect of adding 3,700 deaths to a count which is now more than 10,000 coronavirus deaths. These figures therefore include deaths in hospitals but also in retirement homes or other residences. The NYT article, however, does not report home deaths. The decision to include these dead in official statistics was taken this weekend by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Relative to the number of inhabitants, New York City has been more affected by the coronavirus than Italy, the most affected of European countries, underlines the New York daily.
