On behalf of the municipality, the Munich Society for Market and Sales Research (GMA) is currently looking for a suitable location for a new supermarket. But its necessity is as controversial in the council as among the citizens, as a survey by our newspaper in Seeshaupt shows.
Seeshaupt - Anneliese Hüskes is walking on the sidewalk along the main road with a walker. She lives in the lakeside residence opposite the Edeka shop, where she regularly shops. "It is very practical for me and the other seniors," she says, "where else can you get your things when you are no longer so mobile?" According to the senior citizen, it would be a disaster if the Edeka store closed should.
It is important that the market in the center of the village is preserved
There are always rumors in the village about which operator Florian Zahn does not want to comment on our newspaper. On request, press spokesman Christian Strauß from Edeka Südbayern states: “Due to different changes, our sales point network is not static. Markets are modernized, relocated, closed and opened again and again. Seeshaupt also plays a role in our considerations. ”
With a well-filled basket, Ferdinand Dörfler has just come from shopping. It is important for him that the market in the center of the town is preserved. "I am also against a new supermarket because more free space will then be built in Seeshaupt!" Anyone who needs stationery, for example, should go to Penzberg or Weilheim anyway, says Dörfler.
He also participated in the GMA survey, which interviewed both local dealers and 1,800 households. Their result formed the basis for hours of discussions in the municipal council, which finally decided with a majority of 10: 6 votes to continue the search for a location.
Improving local supply as a clear mandate
71 percent of those surveyed indicated that local supply could be improved. According to the proponents of a new market, the municipality must follow this clear mandate. Among them is the former municipal councilor Sabine Pink, who says: "With the size of Seeshaupt, you need a full-range supplier, because many people are not mobile, so that they can shop abroad!" small shops are not destroyed.
"Half of the purchasing power flows from Seeshaupt to Weilheim and other surrounding communities," says GMA employee Gino Meier. Despite the Edeka market, there is still considerable additional sales space of around 1000 square meters. According to Meier, the shop in the center is no longer up-to-date because it is smaller than 400 square meters and does not have sufficient parking spaces.
Parking situation in the current market is in need of improvement
Elena Maier works in the bakery across from Edeka and believes “two big stores in a village like ours are too many. For larger purchases, you go to neighboring places anyway. ”Erika Pichlbauer considers both the offer at Edeka and the parking situation to be in need of improvement. "But a new market should also be accessible without a car," she says because of the many seniors in Seeshaupt.
In the council, Stefan Müller is one of the supporters of a new market: "We have to respect the clear vote of the citizens and react to changes." It is important to find a compromise between the different attitudes.
That shouldn't be easy for the new municipal council, says Gabi Panovsky. "It will probably be discussed forever again, and in the end all plans just disappear in the drawer without anything happening!"
