The most prestigious cycling race was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the UCI and organizers have said the event will follow the same route, unchanged, from Nice to Paris. They also assured that they had reached an agreement with all the different parties involved, from the local communities to the public authorities.

The UCI decision came just two days after French President Emmanuel Macron banned large-scale public events in the country until mid-July, as part of measures to contain the outbreak.

"Holding this event in the best possible conditions is considered essential given its importance in the cycling economy and its exposure, particularly for teams that benefit this time from unmatched visibility," the UCI said in a statement.

The cycling calendar for this 2020

According to the UCI, the suspension period of the competitions was extended by one month, now it will be until July 1. Another revision of the calendar will be made in mid-May evaluating the situation facing the world with the coronavirus pandemic.

-The Giro and La Vuelta a España still stand, with the dates still to be confirmed, but after the Cycling World Cup.
-The Cycling World Championship to be held in Aigle-Martigny, Switzerland, is held on the scheduled dates, from September 20 to 27. The competition program will not change.
-The national championships will take place the weekend of August 22 to 23.
-The UEC European Road Championships are maintained.
-The most prestigious one-day road races known as "Los Monumentos" will take place this season with dates to be confirmed. These are: the Milano-Sanremo (Italy), the Tour des Flandres (Belgium), the Paris-Roubaix (France), the Liège-Bastogne-Liege (Belgium) and Il Lombardia (Italy)).
