Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his rival Benny Gantz failed to form a government of national unity on Wednesday. The economic and medical crises caused by the appearance of the coronavirus have failed to end a political deadlock that has already led the Israelis to participate in three legislative elections last April, September and March.

In the absence of agreement, the Parliament will have to nominate a new candidate, who will then have 14 days to form a government, failing which new legislative elections will be inevitable.
