Pope's friend: Bergoglio's food was boiled chicken of great simplicity 2:04

(CNN Spanish) - Adrian Pallarols is the goldsmith and personal friend of Pope Francis. Pallarols spoke of the Pope's most intimate aspects as part of a series of interviews that CNN en Español launches to understand the man who was once known as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio.

Pallarols, whose last name is recognized in the world for designing and creating silver metalwork and the batons of the presidents of Argentina, said that many fail to understand the actions of the pope but that the key is to recognize that "today the Church is in the hands of a priest who acts as pope. ”

Pallarols explained in the interview that he is "much more friends with the man than with the priest behind his investiture." He said that Pope Francis once said to him: "Don't you worry because God loves you very much."

He replied: "Yes, but the truth is that I feel better when you give me a hug."

Pallarols has a very special relationship with the pope. They met in 1998 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“He really likes to talk about art and movies. Those themes were the most common themes. He is always very brief ”, explains Pallarols, adding that the Pope, when he lived in Buenos Aires, almost always walked or traveled in a bus and never traveled in a luxury car.

According to Pallarols, that simplicity that Bergoglio had, when he first met him, has not changed since he assumed as pope in March 2013.

During the interview, Pallarols jokingly explains that having lunch "with Cardinal Bergoglio was quite discouraging because" the food was boiled chicken of great simplicity. "

In fact, remembering that simplicity, Pallarols commented that the Pope loved to eat his friend Sergio's ravioli and those were the little luxuries that were given.

Pallarols, who affectionately calls the pope "the old man" when Pope Francis calls him on the phone so as not to scare the people around him, says that at the age of 78, Pope Francis has been preaching a lot of things that are not heard.

Pallarols explains that he saw Cardinal Bergoglio enter and leave the slums.

"He stopped to give mass in the Plaza de Constitución where the first thing he did was give sermons to try to avoid human trafficking and prostitution of women," says Pallarols.

Pallarols considers Cardinal Bergoglio to be very brave because it was a dangerous place at certain times

Listen to the full interview to know the intimate details of the pope, Pallarols' opinion on the movie "The two popes" and to know why he believes that the pope does not visit Argentina, in addition to knowing his anecdotes when the pope lived in Buenos Aires and was known as Cardinal Bergoglio.
