(CNN Spanish) - The President of Ecuador Lenín Moreno decreed 15 days of national mourning starting this Thursday, April 16, in tribute to the fatalities that the coronavirus has left in that country.

The decree also indicates that the flag of Ecuador "will remain hoisted at half-mast in public and private buildings, both civilian and military" and that the Government expresses its solidarity with the families of the deceased, to whom "it will provide the support required in accordance with the Constitution and the Law ”, says the document.

"We owe our deceased compatriots a decent burial in a cemetery and a fair tribute from all over the country. I have decreed 15 days of national mourning in his memory and solidarity with family members, ”he said.
