Deconfinement: "It is urgent to get out of the blur," says Jean-Luc Moudenc

INTERVIEW - For the mayor LR of Toulouse and president of urban France, the government must present a robust health security strategy.


LE FIGARO. - Mayors are on the front line to organize deconfinement. Is the government's course clear?

Jean-Luc MOUDENC. - It is in everyone's interest that mayors work with the State. It would not be constructive to camp on positions of principle, to be in confrontation or postures. Urban France will bring proposals, questions and alerts. It is urgent to get out of focus on the practical conditions and the organization of deconfinement, in which we have been since the intervention of the President of the Republic, who had the merit of setting a course and a timetable. We have fifteen days to build together a serious and reassuring recovery plan for all French people.

Is the reopening of schools on May 11 feasible and desirable?

It is undoubtedly the announcement which causes the most skepticism and hostility. It is impossible to envisage going back to school without a solid health guarantee. We therefore expect clear answers from the authority
