Homeless: a national system approved by associations, but deemed insufficient

The story took place in a hotel in the north of France. Retained by the prefecture at the request of its owner to house the homeless, the establishment finally had to close its doors. Between degradations occurring in the premises and outdated employees, the reception turned into a fiasco. “The hotel staff who mismanaged the presence of the homeless had come to take over telescopic batons. Alerted, the prefecture services removed this address from the aid plan , ” says Samuel Gilmant, director of civil protection in the North.

Aside from this slippage, the system put in place by the government to rescue the homeless since the epidemic is today welcomed by associations working in this area. The “stay at home” directive, launched since the health crisis, has turned for people on the street into a series of measures intended to get them out.
