Municipal: Philippe "doesn't know" if the second round will be held at the end of June

"The law which was passed by the Parliament on March 23 provided for a system in which on May 23 - not before, not after - we will say if the elections the second round of the municipal elections can be held at the end of the month of June, "said the head of government.

" Today, as I speak to you, I do not know if the elections will be held at the end of June. Maybe (they can), but I don't know , ”he added.

Baroin opts for September

The Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Jacqueline Gourault, considered Sunday morning that " realism leads " to the second round taking place "surely after the summer".

The president of the Association of Mayors of France, François Baroin, expressed Friday his wish that the second round of the municipal elections could be held "in the second half of September".

The second round of municipal elections, scheduled for March 22, has been postponed until the day after the first round due to the coronavirus crisis. The date of the postponement must be set according to a scientific report on the health situation which must be submitted to the government on May 23.

Le Pen prefers March 2021
