With the participation of Syria, the International Olympiad in Informatics competitions were held today by Singapore, with the participation of 489 students from 41 countries.
The Syrian participating team included 23 male and female students, who were distributed in various governorates, as the director of the media office of the Excellence and Creativity Authority, Malek Hammoud, said in a statement to Lana, noting that the competitions lasted four hours at the same time in the participating countries and through the direct electronic link between them and the supervising scientific committee in Singapore to communicate and inquire.
Hammoud explained that every student participated from his home in the competitions that included a set of issues that require a high ability to analyze and logical thinking in the field of algorithms and programming in the English language, indicating that each issue is a text from real life and the student must choose or invent the appropriate algorithm for the solution and there Problems need five or six algorithms to solve.
Hammoud pointed out that Singapore organized this competition to invest students' time and provide them with the scientific benefit and expertise in light of the travel ban and the precautionary measures taken in countries of the world to tackle the Corona virus.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian scientific Olympiad teams achieved 39 achievements in international and international competitions for the year 2019, which were divided between silver and bronze medals and certificates of appreciation.
