Mike Pompeo announced that the annexation decision should be Israeli, and that "the United States will work closely with Israel when it is accepted" • At the same time, it expressed satisfaction with the signing of the agreement for the establishment of a unity government led by Netanyahu and Gantz

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday at a press conference that "annexing parts of the West Bank should be an Israeli decision," adding that the US administration would relay its views privately to Prime Minister Netanyahu.

"As for annexing the West Bank, Israelis will eventually make those decisions," Pompeo told reporters. "This is an Israeli decision. And we will work closely with them to share our views on the issue."

In addition, the secretary of state said he was very happy about the establishment of the unity government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and chairman of the Blue and White Benny Gantz.

Pompeo also said that details of the process and exactly what areas in Israel are planning to annex are still under discussion led by US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

Remember, as part of US President Donald Trump's Centennial Plan, Israel was given the authority to annex portions of the Jordan Valley and Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria to exclude residents of Hebron.

Since the announcement of the US peace plan, Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen has rejected the American vision and warned that any attempt to annex would ultimately close the chance of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
