With the swearing-in of the new mayor Markus Landthaler (FWG) the constituent meeting of the Lenggrieser town council began. The election of his deputies was also pending. Günter Haubner (FWG) is now a third mayor.

Lenggries - The meeting was again on Monday evening in the multi-purpose hall. This is mainly due to the Corona distance rules, but also to the fact that the Lenggrieser City Council has now 24 and thus four more members since the election. In any case, there is no longer room for them in the previously very small meeting room of the town hall. The new multi-purpose hall in the “Post” is currently being completed. "We will therefore see each other up here more often," said Mayor Markus Landthaler in his greeting.

Landthaler thanks competitors for "fair election campaign"

He particularly welcomed the 13 new council members. But he also thanked everyone who had run for office on one of the four lists - as well as his three competitors for the mayor's office. Christine Rinner (CSU) and Tobias Raphelt (SPD) are members of the local council. Wolfgang Morlang (Bavarian party), who had run the ballot with Landthaler, attended the meeting as a listener. "The election campaign was always absolutely fair and factual," thanked the town hall manager.

Corona would of course "turn everything upside down at the moment," said Landthaler. All areas of society are affected. How the tax revenues of the municipality would change in the coming months is not yet to be estimated at the moment. "Nobody can say that reliably." One thing was clear: "Corona is not a short-term event." The effects would be felt for a long time to come.

The municipal council recently consisted of only two groups (FWG and CSU), now two more groups sit at the council table with the Greens and the SPD. "I would like to see constructive cooperation with all political groups," said Landthaler. "And when I look around here like this, I also believe that it works."

Third Mayor: SPD wants a woman

The mayor was sworn in by the new CSU parliamentary group leader Josef Wasensteiner as the oldest member of the local council. "I wish you all the best, luck and success," he said to Landthaler.

The election of the second mayor was clear. Franz Schöttl (CSU) has been filling this office "excellently" for 17 years, said the town hall chief. He was therefore his preferred candidate for the post. “I could draw on a wealth of experience. Franz Schöttl is also very popular among the population. ”Schöttl was unanimously confirmed in office.

The position of a third mayor for Lenggries was newly created. "I would advertise it very much because the tasks - including the representative ones - will not be less," said Markus Landthaler. The municipal council complied with the request and voted for the creation of the office.

Landthaler’s preferred candidate was Günter Haubner, the long-standing leader of the Free Voters group. SPD parliamentary group leader Tobias Raphelt wanted a woman in the new leadership trio and therefore suggested his group colleague Sabine Gerg. With 20: 5 votes the committee decided for Haubner.

Committees are enlarged so that each faction has a seat

The main and construction committee were enlarged from six to eight seats (plus the mayor). The FWG and CSU have three seats in each. The Greens and the SPD each have one member.
