The ATP and WTA circuits will remain frozen until the end of July, the governing bodies of male and female tennis announced Friday, the threat being shifted away on the North American tour with the US Open in the climax. The circuits were previously suspended until July 12 inclusive. The rankings remain frozen.
The ATP has extended the suspension of the ATP Tour through to July 31, 2020 due to the ongoing # COVID19 pandemic.

For the ATP circuit, the tournaments of Hamburg, Bastad, Newport, Los Cabos, Gstaad, Umag, Atlanta and Kitzbühel are concerned. Regarding the WTA, these are the tournaments of Bastad, Lausanne, Bucharest and Jurmala. "We continue to assess all the possibilities in order to relaunch the circuit as soon as it is possible to do so without danger, as well as the reprogramming options later in the season," said ATP boss Andrea Gaudenzi in the press release from its authority.

"We regret the situation, but we will continue to follow the recommendations of medical experts before resuming competition," she said the WTA in a separate statement.
WTA events in Bastad, Lausanne, Bucharest, and Jurmala scheduled for July will not be held, due to the ongoing # COVID19 pandemic.

The tournaments scheduled from August 1 are currently maintained, but a decision on their holding will be made in mid-June, adds the ATP. This is the North American tour scheduled to start in Washington on August 1 and end on September 13 with the final of the US Open. Among the ladies, the organizers of the Montreal tournament, scheduled for August 10 to 16, have already announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition.
Professional tennis has been completely stopped since mid-March. Roland-Garros, scheduled for May, rescheduled its tournament in late September, while Wimbledon announced the cancellation of its 2020 edition scheduled for July. The US Open remains scheduled for the moment in New York from August 31 to September 13.
