Washington (CNN) - A US F-22 fighter jet crashed during a "routine training flight" in Florida this Friday, the Air Force said in a statement.
The unnamed pilot was safely removed from the plane and was transported to a local hospital at Eglin Air Force Base "for observation and evaluation," according to the Air Force.
"It is currently in stable condition," the statement said.
The accident took place at a training camp some 19 kilometers northeast of the base, and the Air Force said "there was no loss of life or damage to civil property related to the accident."
