Severe incident in the south: Israeli police arrested a suspect yesterday on Alon Davidi, the mayor of Sderot. Today, during the hearing to extend his arrest in court, a prosecutor's statement was filed and the suspect's arrest was extended until Sunday.

The suspect (in his 40s, a resident of Sderot), was arrested yesterday by police officers and was immediately taken for questioning. Today, a hearing was held in the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court, during which a prosecutor's statement against the suspect was filed and his arrest extended until Sunday, May 17.

Spokesman Sderot said: "Following the police announcement of suspected arrest from Sderot for threats against a local elected official, we can say that the threat is Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi.
