A statement from Mandelblit stated that "the interim solution stems from the fact that most of the State Attorney's powers originate in the first place in the powers of the Attorney General, and therefore in the absence of a permanent State Attorney or Deputy Attorney General, those powers are automatically returned to the Attorney General."
