“Open Skies” Treaty: Germany Calls on the United States to “Reconsider” Its Decision

Germany calls on the United States to "reconsider" its decision to withdraw from the Open Sky international treaty, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement on Thursday, also asking Russia to fully respect its obligations.

"With our partners, we will invest so that the US government reconsider its decision," said Maas, noting that France, Poland and the United Kingdom had "repeatedly" explained to Washington that the "difficulties the Russian side in recent years " did not " justify " a withdrawal.
