Adrián Ramos: things in Colombia are still unclear 1:39
(CNN Spanish) - The secretary general of the International Federation of Professional Soccer Players (FIFPro for its acronym in English) assured that some soccer players in Latin America and Africa are in times of crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. Jonas Baer-Hoffmann said some receive help with food programs and others face pressure to return to play without testing for covid-19.
The representative affirmed that seven member unions in Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Honduras, Panama, Botswana and Egypt were delivering food packages to the players, while other leagues do not provide the necessary medical tests in these times of pandemic.
At the same time, he condemned some teams that make soccer players sign exemptions when they go to train, when they show concern about the risk of contagion.
“Some leagues are not providing testing material for players, which greatly increases the risk of infection. Furthermore, it is unacceptable for players to sign exemptions to play again, ”said Baer-Hoffmann.
