Update of June 7, 2020 : The allegations against the suspect are difficult. A man from Recklinghausen is said to have hid Marvin for two and a half years and sexually abused in 475 cases. At the start of the trial on Friday (June 5) in Bochum, the accused stated that he would initially not comment on the allegations.
A police officer told the court how she happened to spot the boy during a police raid.
" At first I only saw the feet and was really scared ," a police officer told the Bochum judges on Friday. The now 16-year-old crouched in a closet.
The boy was only wearing a t-shirt and shorts. He wore two silver bracelets on his wrist, which he had shamefully stripped off. On one was a tag that read "I love you". The 16-year-old is said to have given a gift from the accused.
"He was dismissive, almost stubborn," said the police officer in the trial at the Bochum district court. "At first I had the feeling that he was not at all thrilled that we found him." Later, in the patrol car, he was more relaxed.
As the picture reports (behind the payment barrier), the detective officer just searched the bedroom and opened the lower wardrobe door. The boy didn't want to answer the question of who he was. Then he stated that his name was Marvin.
Because the accused does not want to testify in the trial, Marvin has to testify himself in the next few days. The 16-year-old is to be questioned in camera. How is he doing today? "He has a very long and difficult road ahead of him," said lawyer Marie Lingnau before the trial started. And when asked why he had not fled the defendant's apartment: "One should not forget that he was only 13 when he was caught by a man who is very manipulative."

Update from January 16, 2020: For two years, there was no trace of what is now 15-year-old Marvin . Shortly after the teenager was discovered in a closet in an apartment in Recklinghausen, it leaked out: the police had apparently received information on the child's whereabouts much sooner.
Now the public prosecutor has launched preliminary investigations into officers of the Duisburg police . The background to this is a reference to the boy's whereabouts after the ZDF program "Case number XY unresolved" - which, however, was "taken without further investigation", as stated in a confidential report to the interior committee of the state parliament, the German press Agency is present.
According to the report by the NRW Minister of the Interior , on July 24, 2019, a "case number XY" viewer gave an indication of the youth's whereabouts. Knowing this only second-hand, the police called the man who originally told the woman about it. The latter therefore also gave the name of the man from Recklinghausen who had already been convicted for having child pornography .
According to the report, the result of the call was released without further investigation. Nothing was saved on the computer either. It wasn't until five months later that the youngster was discovered by accident.
According to the confidential paper, the suspect, with whom the boy lived for more than two years, is now also being investigated for rape and the production of adult pornography.
January 15, 2020 update: What happened to 15-year-old Marvin ? There is still uncertainty about this. In the current issue number "XY" , moderator Rudi Cerne declared the criminal case solved. The ZDF had only searched for the teenager with a film contribution in summer 2019.
As Cerne then explains, the urgently suspected 44-year-old is still in custody. Marvin himself has been under medical care since he was found. In the meantime, it can be assumed that the 15-year-old must have lived with the man in the apartment for the entire duration of his disappearance.
In order to clarify the identity of a dead man, the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY" actually wanted to show the image of a corpse. Now the broadcast has probably been postponed.
Missing Marvin (15): Neighbor reports of strange encounter
Update from December 30, 2019, 11:34 a.m .: There is still uncertainty about the fate of 15-year-old Marvin . Although the police have so far been covering up with information, the teenager's mother expressed serious suspicions days ago.
In conversation with RTL, a neighbor of the arrested person reported further terrible details. As Murat C. explains, young people have often been with the 44-year-old in the past. "He had had such young friends," explains the neighbor. The 44-year-old had previously been kicked out of his job as a football coach.
Murat C. further confirms that the detainee's apartment often stank of bestiality, that the 44-year-old was often drunk and then aggressively mobbed the neighbors. Shortly before investigators accidentally discovered the child in the apartment, Murat C., the owner's brother, had been in the apartment with an expert regarding water damage. He noticed the neglected condition of the apartment, but not a 15-year-old.
"I have three children. You feel like shit," says the neighbor, shocked after visiting the apartment.

Marvin's mother is also informed about the find while the 15-year-old is being hospitalized . When Manuela B. is allowed to see her son for the first time shortly thereafter, the teenager falls into her arms. As the mother of the missing person told Berliner Morgenpost, Marvin was discovered in the same clothes in which the then 13-year-old had disappeared.

A fact that makes Manuela B. suspect terrible things. As Marvin's mother told the newspaper, she now suspects that the 15-year-old may have been administered substances in the apartment . Results of an examination carried out in the hospital are not yet known. Manuela B. also suspects that Marvin may have stayed in the apartment due to the so-called "Stockholm syndrome". Missing Marvin: Police release terrifying information
Manuela B. has nothing but praise for the police. Above all, the clerk kept in contact over the entire period and "really built me up well". Nevertheless, the police are now checking whether Marvin could have been freed from the apartment much sooner. As investigators admit only a few days after the discovery, there was apparently a reference to the apartment in question already in the summer.
